Scenes from Cape Cod

We had glorious weather last week at Cape Cod. We have been spending the last week of the summer there for the past 10 years. It's a nice "last hurrah" before the kids begin school.

Maddie has found her ocean loving, nature nurturing soul mate in her brother Liam. Once we got him to believe that there were no snakes in the ocean and that the sharks would not come ashore and eat him he was sold! He just loved fishing and catching things, examining them and then carefully returning them to the ocean. He couldnt get enough shell and rock hunting either which made Ashley, the worlds biggest sea glass collector very happy to have some company on her beach walks.

Liam was in awe of everything. He was on the beach from morning til night. It was wonderful to see him enjoying his first childhood vacation to the ocean!

We had some difficulty with the sand this year. For some reason it was very gravelly, gritty and hard to build up. Our creations were much smaller than usual but Liam enjoyed himself and we all kept busy trying to keep the structures from collapsing.

Liam's very first sand castle!

Check out the window box!

Liam's second sand castle.

Liam staying out of the architects way.... I mean helping the architect (she who does not frolic)

We had some trouble getting Liam to join all of us for our annual family picture but we were happy to at least get the kids. Maybe next year he will want to be in the family picture.

Liam's 3rd castle. This one never got finished due to the wind. This was started on the day before Earl wimpered in but the wind was pretty gusty.

And last but not least.....
Remember the little boy who almost drowned in Guangzhou? Well look at my baby now!!!
He's a swimmer!
