Ashley was pretty much unconsolable most of yesterday after her dad left for China. Just mentioning his name brought tears. Every time the phone rang she jumped and said "I think that's my dad". It was a very long day, night and she was up at the crack of dawn wondering if her dad was on his way home. So.... we resorted to our trusted old friend... "the Paper Chain". Ashley struggles with dates, times, and abstracts. She made a paperchain this morning... at 6am (zzzzzzzz) in a color of her choosing, feeling each one of the strips and connecting with what it represents. For each day he is gone, a link of the chain will be removed, and she will be able to see the chain shorten which hopefully will lessen her anxiety over when daddy will be home.
