Disney!

We took the kids to Disney during February School vacation. It was Danny's first trip with us, something he's been looking forward to for a long time. It's hard for him as a new member of the family, joining at age 12 to see all the past family photos of our vacations together. For Liam, it was a redo of his last trip to Disney which didnt go very well for him.

Since our kids were little we have spent New Years Eve at Disney. There is nothing like ringing in the New Year surrounded by families, music, fireworks and Mickey Mouse! We have done it for so long, we dont even notice the crowds. Well, stupid us, we decided that Liam's first trip should be during this very crazy holiday and we took him for New Years, 2010/2011. A nightmare waiting to happen. Liam freaked out with the crowds and the fears of getting lost reared it's ugly head in ways that shocked us. He had no clue what to expect, didnt know what was at disney and was convinced he'd get lost and have to find a new family.

Very often during this trip Liam would say things like, "I'm doing good this trip mom" and "Disney is more fun now mom" etc. He's so much more relaxed and we saw him walking ahead of us with confidence that we were right there. It was nice. As for Danny, this trip did him a world of good. He also seems so much more relaxed now. It's as if he thinks we took him on a trip so we must be keeping him. The poor kid lives in a shadow of disruption after his first family did that. It's hard for him to trust that we are forever. It has been nice to see the transformation in him.

Some pics from our trip

My girls. Oops.. I mean my boys?

Well... Everyone's favorite ride except Maddie, Danny and Ashley. (chickens!)

I love this photo. It brought back memories of when I took this same picture of my parents. I cherish that photo. Having the kids sit in the same spot they sat not too long ago was nice. It made me feel connected, especially for my 2 newest boys who never got to meet their amazing grandparents.

My parents. I miss them terribly.

Fun at Chef Mickeys!
