Thanksgiving Luau. Liam's favorite was the fire spinner. I asked the fire spinner to tell Liam "do not try this at home". This is Liam with the fire guy. Liam thinks the fire guy is "merry merry awesome".

Some scenes from the whalewatch. We have been very fortunate on our last few trips to Maui. Normally, the whales migrate from Alaska to breed and dont usually arrive until December. They stay until April or May and then start the whole thing over again. They head to Alaska to spend the summer eating, then start their trek back to Hawaii to breed. This year, after searching for some time, we came upon 3 males trying to get the attention of a single female. There was quite a show going on for her, and we got to witness it. It was spectacular.

The bittersweet view of a tail fluke. Yes, awesome to witness but sad because you know when you see this, the whale is on his way down and can stay down for some time. You never know when or where he will resurface.


This whale was quite the showoff. He would roll onto the surface, and sort of roar as he blew. The naturalist said this was his way of intimidating the other whales and getting the female's attention. It was loud and a noise we'd never heard before.

A bonus dolphin viewing. We were told that most of the dolphins in this group were asleep and only a few dolphins at a time stay awake to guide them along. They take turns sleeping.
