Say what????????

Since Liam has come home, we have been working on appropriate responses to injuries. At first, when he hurt himself, he was very stoic. If it hurt enough to make him cry, he'd look away so we didnt see. We worked on this for a long time. I would run to every injury, trying to let him know that someone was there to comfort him and to make sure he was ok.

Then we went to the opposite extreme, where even the smallest papercut was met with dramatic tears and the need for hugs and kisses. This set up a dilemma for us, in which we never really knew how badly he was hurt.

Today at soccer, Liam was in full swing, agressive, in the mix... when a bunch of boys went down. All but Liam got up. This is not the first time it takes him a little while to figure out what kind of attention he should seek. Rich went running over, and knew pretty quickly that Liam was hurt.

After 4 hours in the ER, Liam is home with crutches, an immobilizer and an appointment to have a cast put on his broken foot on Monday. He broke 2 bones in his foot, he's in quite a bit of pain.
