History Day competition

Each child in our town had to do a project for National History day. In the high school, students were required to do a project for the History day competition. The high school history teachers chose the best of the entries among all the classes to enter into the competition. The next phase was being judged by the history department. They then chose a select few to represent the town in the district competiion. Brittany's entry is a documentary entitled "Faces of America" and is about the child citizenship act. This act changed the way our children become citizens. It was long overdue and helped remove the red tape involved in giving our children the citizenship they deserved as children of Americans.

One of the things that has impressed the judges the most are the photos of families who now benefit from this act. I went online to my adoption related groups and asked if anyone would like to participate and the response was overwhelming. It brings a very personal touch to this documentary, something that none of the others have. Thanks to those of you who sent us pictures of your beautiful families.

Today, Brittany won first place in the district level of the competition. This makes her currently in the top 5 in the state. She moves on to the next level of the competition on March 31 and if she wins there, she moves to the final stage in Washington DC.
