He wanted to make sure we knew the red envelope protocol since we all know I was born yesterday and am clueless about such details. He seems to forget he has 3 Chinese siblings. He told me he would be asking us for red envelopes and we HAD to hand them over with money in them. I asked him who would he be asking for envelopes from just to make sure he didnt go overboard. He told me he can only ask for them from his mama and daddy and he's so happy he gets to ask for them this year since he couldnt before. Even though they got visits at the orphanage from dignitaries who handed out red envelopes, he said it wasnt good. You need to ask your mama and daddy, that's how it works! aww. Ask away little man!
Both boys went to school with red envelopes containing a chinese coin for each of their classmates. Liam also brought a little something for his teachers and wanted to bring a couple of chinese lanterns for his classroom.
We are off to a Chinese New Year party later today. Liam is very excited about it. I really think in some ways he's surprised that he still gets to celebrate Chinese holidays. Who knows what goes through their little minds when they leave thier homeland for a whole new world. Well Liam, we honor and cherish your heritage, we will do all we can to help you always remember it.

Our Kitchen God picture that was hanging beautifully in my kitchen last night was found on the floor this morning... I'm hoping that's NOT a bad omen... Maybe my kitchen wasn't clean enough for him.... oof.
